Give Thanks to Your Customers

November is a time to give thanks for the many wonderful things we have in our lives. Shouldn’t our customers be one of the things we celebrate?

Our customers keep our business blooming. When we thank them for their business, it rebuilds their loyalty and their trust in us. Here are three ways you can thank your customers for their business:

1. Reward them for their business and referrals

A reward system is an easy way to thank loyal customers for their continued business. But don’t forget about the importance of a referral, too. Whether it’s a free item or a discount, the reward is a small way to thank them for supporting your business.

“When my customers leave their dogss with me three times in one year, they get one day free boarding for their dog.”
-- Jan Gibson, Jandane Kennels

2. Be a valuable resource for customers

Give loyal customers a perk for their commitment to you by offering them valuable information that they can use. Pass along an article that made you think of them or host a free seminar on a popular topic in your field. Just make sure that the information provided is something that your customers could actively use. Being a resource for them shows that you are not only an expert at what you do, but that you

“We give thanks to clients and business associates with timely and relevant blog posts to the William Vaughan Company website. Anyone can sign up for email notifications on our website, http://blog.wvco.com/.  This gives our customers the latest information on tax law changes, advice on business ownership and management, tax savings tips, fraud warnings, general financial recommendations and more.”
-- Michelle Klement, CPA, William Vaughan Company

3. Say “thanks”

Sometimes, all it takes is this simple word to let your customers know how much you appreciate them. Remember that each experience with your customers is an opportunity to say “thanks.” And simple gestures can go a long way, too. Consider sending thank you cards, giving away small gifts during Customer Appreciation Week and taking a loyal customer out for coffee.
